Totally agree with your points, especially that a highscore would have made a big difference. Unfortunately, that feature (among others) fell victim to my poor time management this time around. ;)

No problem! I totally understand the time management issue. That's usually what gets us all into trouble with game jams. XD
There are some situations you simply cant get out of. Otherwise cool!
EX: rocks fallling directly on top of you, blocking your landing/jump zone(yes i tried boost)
